    (British) Stage Management Association  (SMA) is the only organisation supporting and representing professional Stage Management in the UK.

       

Unions

    Actors' Equity Association (AEA),  founded in 1913, is the labor union representing actors and stage managers in the legitimate theatre in the United States. Equity's Stage Manager Services web page.

    American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) represents its members in four major areas: 1) news and broadcasting; 2) entertainment programming; 3) the recording business; and, 4) commercials and non-broadcast, industrial, educational media.

    American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA), the labor organization that represents the men and women who create America's operatic and dance heritage.

    Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers (ATPAM) members are press agents, publicity and marketing specialists company managers and house and facilities managers who are devoted to the health, vitality and success of staged entertainment of all types.

    Canadian Actors' Equity Association (CAEA) is the professional association of performers, directors, choreographers and stage managers in Canada, who are engaged in English-language live performance, including the stage, opera, ballet and dance.

    Directors' Guild of America (DGA) represents Film and Television Directors, Unit Production Managers, First Assistant Directors, Second Assistant Directors, Technical Coordinators and Tape Associate Directors, Stage Managers and Production Associates.

    International Association of Theatrical and Stage Employees (IATSE) is the labor union representing technicians, artisans and craftspersons in the entertainment industry, including live theatre, film and television production, and trade shows.

    Screen Actors Guild (SAG) represents and coordinates the activities of the various persons engaged or employed as performers in the motion picture industry.

    Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers (SSDC) is a national independent labor union representing members throughout the United States and abroad.

    United States Institute for Theatre Technology, Inc.  (USITT) has as its mission to actively promote the advancement of the knowledge and skills of its members.

    The Production Managers’ Forum (PMForum) is the network for Production Managers of LORT Theatres, regional theatre companies and educational theatres in the United States.

       

Theatrical organizations

    League of American Theatres and Producers (League) is the national trade association for the commercial theatre industry. It was formed in 1930 as The League of New York Theatres.

    Alliance of Resident Theaters/New York (ART/NY) is the service organization for the nation's largest, most artistically influential, and most culturally diverse theatre community: Off Broadway. Founded in 1972, A.R.T./New York currently serves close to 400 not-for-profit theatres and related organizations.

    Theatre Development Fund (TDF) is the largest not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts in the country.

    Performing Arts Resources, Inc. (PAR) is a multi-faceted information clearinghouse. Programs include Set Recycling Hotline, Personnel Network, Seminars, Workshops, Publications and more.

The American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) is the national voice of community theatre, representing the interests of its members and over 7,000 theatres across the U.S. and with the armed forces overseas. AACT offers a wide range of member benefits and services
