Public event: non-SMA members welcome!
SMA Zoom for approx 2 hours.
The BIPOC Coalition, in partnership with the Stage Managers’ Association, invite all Chicago Stage Managers who identify as Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian or Mixed-Race/Multiracial to join the conversation around diversity in theater and how we can support each other, as well as overall growth in our industry.
We are hosting an affinity space, specifically for those who work in the Chicagoland area, to give BIPOC stage managers a space to connect, commune and discuss ideas for change within the Chicago theater scene.
Many BIPOC stage managers have expressed that they would prefer to share their stories among people whose lived experiences reflect their own. We will honor this request by holding this affinity space as a safe place for their voices. To that end, we ask that stage managers who have not personally experienced racial discrimination to not attend this event. People Without Color will be asked to join in on future conversations. Your fellow stage managers will appreciate this show of solidarity and extension of space.
This will be FREE to anyone interested; the event is hosted by the SMA Zoom account. Membership in the SMA is not required.
Please note, this event will be recorded for security reasons. The recording will be deleted afterwards.
Register in advance for this meeting. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
