Education: Choose this category for questions/messages about SMA educational programming such as webinars/online discussions, Document Library, Ask a Stage Manager, mentoring, Operation Observation, conferences and anything else relating to the education and training of a stage manager.

Membership - Joining, Renewals, & Other Queries

We have 3 membership levels within the SMA: Student, Associate, and Professional. The Student level is for those enrolled in a high school, college, or graduate program focused on stage management, and not a member of any branch of any of the 4A unions. The Associate level is for a stage manager, teacher or advocate of the profession who is not currently a student, or making their primary living as a stage manager. The Professional level is for those who have worked under a recognized contract of any branch of the 4A unions* as a stage manager or assistant stage manager, or demonstrates comparable experience as a professional stage manager. *The 4A unions are Actors’ Equity Association (AEA), American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA),Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), and American Guild of Variety Artists (AGVA)
To join, go to https://www.stagemanagers.org/membership-levels/ and choose the level of membership for which you are eligible.
Membership approval goes through the Secretaries of the SMA who are also working stage managers so approval can take up to a week. If you have any questions about your status, please contact the Secretaries at secretary@stagemanagers.org
All membership levels are for one full year (12 months) before you need to renew.
When you join, you are automatically enrolled to have your membership renew automatically unless you cancel your membership before the renewal date. The SMA will send you an email notice approximately 30 days prior to the Renewal Date. This notice will inform you that your current membership term is about to end and will specify the Renewal Date when your membership will be renewed and your account charged. All notices regarding your membership will be sent to your last email of record. To cancel your membership without your account being charged for the next term, you must do so before the Renewal Date. Please keep a record of when your subscription term ends and the next Renewal Date. You are responsible for the timely cancellation of your membership regardless of whether you receive any notice from us. No, you can renew at any time without repaying the initiation fee.
When you are logged in, go to the Member tab at the top of the page and from the drop down menu, choose “My Account”. On your account page, under :My Memberships”, click “Change” under your current membership level and then choose your new membership level. Member Profile & Account

When you are logged in, go to the Members tab at the top of the page and from the drop down menu, choose “My Profile”. On your profile page, click the gear icon that is to the right of your name to edit your information. If you need further assistance, contact secretary@stagemanagers.org
If you have forgotten or need to change your password, from the Log In screen, click on “lost your password” and this will reset your password. If you need further assistance, contact secretary@stagemanagers.org
When you are logged in, go to the Members tab at the top of the page and from the drop down menu, choose “My Account”. On your account page, click Membership Billing that is to the right to edit your information. If you need further assistance, contact secretary@stagemanagers.org
