Regional gatherings (SM GO = “Stage Managers Go Out”) are hosted regularly across the country can be in the form of holiday parties, drinks nights, brunches, bowling, escape rooms, etc. They are an invaluable networking tool and a great way to wind down and enjoy the company of other stage managers in an informal setting. Members receive a personal invitation and can propose to host one in their area at any time in person or online. The SMA can help fund in person gatherings which can go towards food.

And throughout the year, members of the SMA organize panels, symposia, and workshops related to stage management across the country both online and in person. Past events have included workshops in stage combat, panels on stage management relationships with other theatrical personnel (i.e. directors, general managers, etc), navigating unemployment, . “A View from the Wings” is our most popular symposia series which is organized by SMA members and has been held in major cities like NYC, Chicago, and Las Vegas. Members receive discounts to attend these events and exclusive invites to member-only events.
