Yes. Job service is a member benefit. Members sign in and can view the list. Also, each job submitted is emailed directly to each member (wishing to receive job postings) upon submission/approval.

Hi, Morgan. One more thing that might clarify your situation. The SMA does not have a mechanism whereby a member can put out the word that s/he is seeking a job or internship. I hope this is helpful. Rich Costabile

The SMA job postings are a great benefit and you should absolutely sign up for them. I want to make sure you know that in order to maintain a steady income in the business, you will need a multifaceted approach to job hunting. Because, unlike our IATSE friends and other union jobs, there is not a "union hall" where you can just sign up and get put on jobs. Our business is all about networking. There are many, many jobs out there, but knowing the right people has a lot to do with getting them. I encourage you to work your network. Let your friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances know that you are looking for work. But also, try to meet new people and grow your circle. Places like LinedIn are one options, but in person is always better. This is where SM GO nights, sponsored by the SMA, are a great help. You meet more people and your network expands. But don't just go asking for work. Make connections, build relationships. There are many online resources about the techniques of networking (and only rarely do they get taught in schools) and that is how you really find work. Keep moving, stay busy, volunteer, make connections and keep positive. Positive energy will beget positive energy and every good job you do will get you two more... you just don't know when. I was a PA in a regional theatre once and four years later that PSM offered me my first big national tour on Les Miserables! Good luck!
